Terms of Use

Last updated: March 2026

By downloading or using Avorbi, you agree to these terms. They are written to be readable, not to obscure anything. If something isn't clear, please get in touch.

1. About Avorbi

Avorbi is a private journalling app for iOS. It is built to help you reflect, not to collect data about you. Your entries, settings, and personal information stay on your device at all times.

Avorbi is a reflection tool only. It is not a medical device, a mental health service, a diagnostic tool, or a substitute for professional care of any kind.

2. Subscription

Avorbi requires an active subscription to use. Subscriptions are offered on a yearly auto-renewable basis and are processed entirely through the Apple App Store.

Free trial: New subscribers receive a 3-day free trial. The trial begins when you confirm your subscription in the App Store. After 3 days, the subscription automatically converts to a paid yearly subscription unless cancelled beforehand.

By starting a free trial or subscribing, you authorise Apple to charge the subscription price to your Apple ID account at the start of each billing period. Subscription prices are shown in the App Store at the time of purchase and may vary by region.

3. Free trial eligibility

The 3-day free trial is available to new subscribers only — one trial per Apple ID. If you have previously subscribed to Avorbi under the same Apple ID, the trial offer will not be available.

Apple determines trial eligibility. Avorbi has no control over or visibility into this process.

4. Renewal and cancellation

Your subscription renews automatically at the end of each billing period at the then-current price. You will not be separately notified before each renewal.

To cancel, you must turn off auto-renewal at least 24 hours before the end of the current subscription period. You can do this at any time through:

Cancelling stops future renewals. You retain access to the app for the remainder of the period you have already paid for. Avorbi does not offer partial refunds for unused subscription time.

5. No refunds

Avorbi is an evolving, experimental application. Features may change, be added, removed, or behave in ways that differ from prior versions at any time and without notice. By subscribing, you acknowledge the experimental and evolving nature of the product.

Avorbi does not issue refunds directly. All subscription payments are processed exclusively by Apple through the App Store, and any refund requests must be submitted to Apple. The experimental or evolving nature of Avorbi is not in itself grounds for a refund claim against Avorbi or its developers.

To request a refund from Apple: reportaproblem.apple.com. Apple's standard refund policy applies.

6. Billing and payment

All billing is handled by Apple. Avorbi does not process payments, store card details, or receive any financial information about you. Any billing questions or disputes should be directed to Apple.

7. Price changes

If the subscription price changes, Apple will notify you in advance in accordance with their policies. Continued use of the app after a price change takes effect constitutes acceptance of the new price.

8. Your content

Everything you write in Avorbi belongs to you. We do not claim any rights over your journal entries. Because your data never leaves your device, we have no access to it and no ability to use it in any way.

You are responsible for any content you write. Avorbi is a private tool — your entries are not shared with anyone and are not reviewed by us.

9. Acceptable use

Avorbi is for personal, private reflection. You agree not to use the app in any way that is unlawful, harmful to others, or contrary to its intended purpose as a journalling tool.

10. No clinical use

Avorbi is not a healthcare product. Nothing in the app constitutes medical advice, mental health diagnosis, or clinical treatment. If you are experiencing a mental health crisis or are concerned about your wellbeing, please contact a qualified professional or emergency services.

Crisis support resources are listed in the app under Settings → About → Safeguarding.

11. Availability and changes to the app

We aim to keep Avorbi available and well-maintained, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access. We may update, change, or discontinue features at any time. Where changes are significant, we will aim to communicate them clearly.

If the app is discontinued, you will be notified and subscriptions will not be renewed beyond that point.

12. Disclaimer of warranties

Avorbi is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the app will be error-free, uninterrupted, secure, or free of bugs or defects. Use of Avorbi is entirely at your own risk.

13. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Avorbi and its developers shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of data, loss of profits, or loss of goodwill, arising from or related to your use of the app or these terms.

In any event, our total aggregate liability to you for any and all claims arising from or related to your use of Avorbi shall not exceed the total amount actually paid by you to Apple for your Avorbi subscription in the twelve (12) months immediately preceding the event giving rise to the claim. If you have not made any payment, our liability is limited to the fullest extent permitted by law.

14. Intellectual property

The Avorbi name, logo, app design, and all associated content (excluding your personal journal entries) are owned by or licensed to Avorbi's developers and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws. Nothing in these terms grants you any right to use Avorbi's name, trademarks, logos, or other proprietary materials.

You may not copy, reproduce, modify, distribute, or create derivative works from any part of the app or its assets without prior written permission from Avorbi's developers.

15. Indemnification

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, you agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Avorbi and its developers, officers, and agents from and against any and all claims, liabilities, damages, losses, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or relating to: (a) your use of the app; (b) your breach of these terms; or (c) any content you create or store using the app.

16. Third-party services

Avorbi relies on Apple's App Store and related services for distribution, payment processing, and optional on-device AI features. Your use of those services is subject to Apple's own terms and policies, which Avorbi has no control over. Avorbi is not responsible for the availability, performance, or conduct of any third-party service.

17. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales, unless applicable consumer law in your jurisdiction provides otherwise.

18. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The date at the top of this page will reflect the most recent revision. Continued use of the app after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated terms.
